RELEASE: FORMER WHITE HOUSE LEADERS FROM BUSH AND OBAMA ADMINS. OPPOSE PARDONS OF JAN. 6TH INSURRECTIONISTS

The leadership of Bedrock – a hate-fueled violence prevention organization with bipartisan leadership – have issued the following statement on the decision to pardon those involved with the January 6th attack on the Capitol:

“The decision to pardon and commute sentences of those convicted for their role in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol is deeply troubling. The attack was not only a horrific act of violence, but it also undermines the foundations of our democracy. By pardoning those who carried out this violence, America risks sending the message that such behavior is acceptable, weakening the rule of law and making it more likely that hate and violence will grow. Our nation’s leaders, no matter their political affiliations, must come together to stand against hate and the violence motivated by it.”
